“Rather than forms, we might speak of links, “relationships”, that I between people, objects and the behaivour patterns they establish.

Almost like a geneticist (scientist who studies genetics) he practices hybridisation (process of combining different varieties or species of organisms to create a hybrid), mostly of cultures, knowledge and tradition.

The viewer – becomes more of an actor in Tiravanji’s work

The viewer often finds himself in a device where the ability to socialize is revealed.

His pieces turn the viewer into actor and host of the place.

He creates structures, literal and metaphorical, for people to operate on.

he concept of “ relational aesthetics” (the relationships that are sparked by the art) or the work’s of “use-value”–are both ideas that predate Rirkrit’s work.

His work dissolves the tenuous boundaries between viewer and participant, inviting the audience to interact, engage and enjoy--as if it weren't a formal exhibition at all, but a gathering of friends, sharing stories and temporarily escaping the pervasively isolated nature of contemporary life.

Tiravanija’s works tend to set the stage, to offer an opportunity or a possibility for interaction and participation.

The visitor becomes a participant in that experiment.

The exhibition space put visitors into very intimate if unexpected contact; the displacement creates an acute awareness of the notion of public and private
